The course was designed by Charlie Hunter and was established in 1895. Set within the Craigston area of Cochrane Castle the elevated views from the course provide scenic aspects towards Ben Lomond to the North, the Campsies to the East.
Over the Golfing Season the club hosts a number of popular Open Events, first of which is the Seniors Open in May followed by the Cuninghame Trophy Mixed Tournament in June followed by the combined Craigston Rosebowl Scratch and the Gents Open Handicap tournament in August, which has grown in popularity since its first event in 1996.
