Doug Johnstone is the author of eighteen novels, many of which have been bestsellers. The Space Between Us was chosen for BBC Two’s Between the Covers, while Black Hearts was shortlisted for the Theakston Crime Novel of the Year, The Big Chill longlisted for the same prize. Four of his books have been shortlisted or longlisted for the McIlvanney Prize for Scottish Crime Novel of the Year. Doug has taught creative writing or been writer in residence at universities, schools, writing retreats, festivals, prisons and a funeral directors. He’s also been an arts journalist for twenty-five years. He is a songwriter and musician with ten albums released, and drummer for the Fun Lovin’ Crime Writers. He’s also co-founder of the Scotland Writers Football Club. His new book Living is a Problem is the 6th in the Skelfs series, featuring drones, gangland vendettas, a missing choir singer, disturbances in the cemetery, PTSD, panpsychism, and secrets from the past..
Helen FitzGerald is the bestselling author of ten thrillers, including The Donor (2011) and The Cry (2013), which was longlisted for the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year, and adapted in 2018 for a major BBC and Netflix drama. Her 2019 dark-comedy thriller Worst Case Scenario was a Book of the Year in the Literary Review, Herald Scotland, Guardian and Daily Telegraph, shortlisted for the Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year, and won the CrimeFest Last Laugh Award. The critically acclaimed Ash Mountain (2020) and Keep Her Sweet (2022) soon followed. Helen worked as a criminal justice social worker for over fifteen years. She grew up in Victoria, Australia, and now lives in Glasgow with her husband. David F. Ross was born in Glasgow in 1964 and resided in various parts of the city until the late 1970s. Subsequently, he relocated to Kilmarnock, where he has lived since. David embarked on a series of unconventional jobs, including roles as an undertaker, ice cream parlor employee, tennis groundsman, and DJ. Eventually, he found his way to the Glasgow School of Art, where he pursued a degree in architecture. Currently, he holds the position of Design Director at Keppie Design, one of Scotland's most prominent and established architectural firms. His professional career has taken him across the globe, with notable project leadership in countries such as China, Egypt, Malaysia, India, and Libya. He has also served as a business leader for East Ayrshire Council, a Board Mentor for Entrepreneurial Spark, and a design advisor to Strathclyde Passenger Transport for their Glasgow Subway modernization program in preparation for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. David's novel, There's Only One Danny Garvey was shortlisted for Scottish Fiction Book of the Year, his new novel, The Weekenders is released at the end of February. The Weekenders - The deaths of a series of young Eastern European women in Glasgow leads to a stately home in the Scottish countryside, and back to the Second World War, where a group of young soldiers made their own, shocking rules…
