The event will be held at Barnhill Farm in Inchinnan on Saturday 17 August, with tickets priced at £60 per person. Tickets include food, music from world renowned rock ceilidh band ‘Bahookie’, and line dancing with Calamity Carol.
Provost Cameron is supporting a different charity for every year of her term in office, choosing MND Scotland for 2024.
MND Scotland was founded as the Scottish Motor Neurone Disease Association in 1981 by John Macleod, a Strathclyde police officer and his wife Peigi.
At the time, services were limited, and health professionals had little or no knowledge of the condition.
Today, MND Scotland strive to reduce the impact of MND on the lives of those affected, by offering services such as benefits advice, equipment loans, counselling, advocacy, and a grants programme.
Provost Cameron said: “MND Scotland is a fantastic charity who not only provide incredible support to people who have motor neurone disease and their families, but who are working towards finding meaningful new treatments for this devastating life limiting illness.
“It is particularly close to my heart as I lost my own mum to this awful disease in June 2011. I know firsthand not only the emotional impact of caring for a loved one with MND, but also the incredible work MND Scotland did to help us through diagnosis and beyond.
"Although MND has become more recognised through the media in recent years due to the sad deaths of some very well known names, it’s important that we continue to raise funds to enable clinical trials with the hopes of prolonging the quality of life of those who are diagnosed and of course we hope one day a cure can be found.
“The hoedown is going to be a great night and I hope many of you will be able to come along and join me. Not only is it in a real barn, but we’ll also have great music, fantastic dancing, and there might even be some prizes for the best dressed cowboy and cowgirl!
“It’s BYOB so there won’t be an expensive bar on the night, meaning any spare cash can go straight towards supporting this amazing cause.
“Dust off those cowboy boots, get your gang together and book your tickets online today.”
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
