Have you got an inner jewellery designer inside you, just desperate to be unleashed??
Working in wax can be faster & easier than going straight into metal & you can also create incredible forms that would be difficult to do in other materials. With all materials and tools provided, in this fun session, you'll learn some basic techniques in how to design, carve & texture your wax master, and understand a little about the lost wax casting process, meaning you'll end up with a totally individual piece of jewellery that no one else will have.
After the session, your finished wax will be sent off to be cast in sterling silver, before being ready to collect, a few weeks later, all finished & ready to wear!
*What’s included
All tools & materials are included, along with 1 standard ring, cast in sterling silver, available to collect from The Workshop when it’s ready in around 3 weeks time. You’ll get 2 waxes during the session, 1 to practice on & 1 to cast. You can always have both cast for an additional £40. Chunky rings will add additional costs &, as casts are charged by weight, pricing can vary depending on daily metal prices.
If you’d like your ring posted out to you, an additional fee might be charged.
Snacks & refreshments are also included.
If there's time, or you’re a super-fast carver, you are more than welcome to purchase more wax to create even more fantastic pieces. Any additional pieces requiring casting will be charged separately.
If it’s a special occasion or you’d like to arrange a private group session, just get in touch!
*Who can do this?
Anyone aged 16 & over, is welcome, whether you’re a complete beginner or someone with a little bit of jewellery experience, looking to try something new. This is a fun, relaxed & creative session & I can guarantee you’ll leave wanting to create even more! The session will take place in our downstairs studio, which has wheelchair access. Please just let us know when you book if you need any assistance.
*What you’ll need to bring
You’ll be in a working studio, with jewellers’ tools, so please make sure you wear practical clothing & glasses if you need them. You’ll be provided with an apron, so you don’t end up covered in wax dust, & other protective gear, if needed.
Don’t forget, if you already have some ideas, bring ‘em along too!
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
