The streets we walk hide many secrets; sometimes they hide other worlds. Paisley Book Festival brings together a duo of brilliant writers who rip up the rule book, injecting magic, dystopia and fantasy into our very recognisable worlds.
The second instalment of T L Huchu’s Edinburgh Nights series sees Ropa Moyo finds herself accepting a crummy unpaid internship instead of getting paid to work magic; that is, until she works at Our Lady of Mysterious Maladies. HellSans is a ubiquitous typeface in Ever Dundas’s latest, and it is the ultimate control device. Jane Ward loses her job and wealth, ending up on the streets, until she is rescued by Dr Icho Smith, and they must work together to expose government corruption.
Speed is of the essence in both tales: mysteries to be solved, people to be saved – two authors not to miss.
